Bartending is not all fun and games, it is not just a cheesy job or career, it can be a very challenging and reputable career, if you take all of the proper steps that can help get you to that point. Television and the entertainment industry are very skilled at influencing the public thought process.
The establishment you work in will provide the blender, beverages, glasses and ice. Some managers want bartending experience, and some don't. Most establishments are not high volume and super fast paced.
Tend your bar with flair, and learn how to spin the bottle or slide glasses across the counter. The DJ can either announce drink specials or even events, as well as help to get people to your bar. But that attitude is as necessary as the skill in mixing and pouring a drink.
